Frugal Gifts For Kids Under $20! Non-Electronic Gift Ideas for Ages 5-10
Like most kids these days my kids have had their fair share of electronics and because of that, it’s nice to find toys for them that doesn’t always require a screen.
I am one of those moms that really struggle when it comes to buying gifts for my kids because I don’t like to buy things just for the sake of buying it.
In other words, I don’t like feeling pressure to buy things just so I have something to put under the tree. I want it to be worth my money.
But I also know how hard it can be to find unique, fun, and useful gifts for your kids, especially on a budget.
Most of the time you will find that affordable toys aren’t the best quality or the most fun and it SUCKS.
That’s why I am sharing a list of my favorite affordable kid’s toys that I have purchased for my kids over the years. These toys aren’t only budget-friendly but they are fun, unique, and useful too.
I hope you enjoy!
My kids are paper airplane fanatics so when I saw these airplanes for the first time I knew my kids had to have them.
If you have never seen these in action before - These things go crazy high.
For under $20 these are so much fun for both kids and adults alike.
If you have little ones that love to play with playdoh or kinetic sand they will absolutely love this.
Foam alive comes in 3 different colors and includes the ice cream cones and scoop.
It isn't sticky or wet which is great if you have a lot of carpet and best of all it never dries up!
Last year my son begged and begged for this for Christmas and it was one of those gifts that I went into thinking it was going to be a bad idea.
But it totally wasn't. This was so much fun.
Ooze baff is similar to slime except better because it's meant for the bathtub.
It is quick and easy to make, doesn't clog the drain, doesn't stain the tub (or the kid).
Seriously it was perfect.
and if you feel worried about it being in your bathtub you could definitely use it in the summer outside in a kid pool or bucket.
My 5 year old wants to paint all the time. This girl would paint 24/7 if I let her.
But to be honest I don't always want to deal with the mess of painting.
These paint sticks have been the solution!
- Quick drying (yes, in seconds)
- Non Toxic
- Can use on many surfaces such as paper, canvas, cardboard, wood, pumpkins etc.
- NO paintbrushes or water needed.
- Just open the cap and go!
If you have a crafty little one on your list this is the perfect gift for them.
This set of lego dots allows you to create 3 animal picture holders.
You can design them any way you like and put them on display in your room -
or you can take them apart you can do it over and over again.
This is such an adorable and fun way to keep your kiddo active during those long winter days.
We tried snap circuits for the first time a few years ago when my oldest son turned 8.
He was all about anything hands on and educational. That boy really loves to learn.
These snap circuits are perfect for learning about how to make these work.
You can assemble over 100 different projects with this one set.
Create working models of a photo sensor, a flashing light, an adjustable-Volume siren and much more.
Easy to follow instructions that won't leave your child frustrated. No tools required everything just snaps on.
It is so fun to watch your child construct and master their very own working electronics.
If you need a fun and quick family game this is totally it.
This game is super quick. You don't need hours and hours to play a game like this.
It's active and engaging. No one will sit there bored.
It's hilarious. Guaranteed you will find yourself laughing and enjoying this just as much as your kids do.
Who here remembers the bop it? This game is still just as fun as it used to be.
You can play solo (which is so helpful if you need your child to occupy themselves) or select the pass it mode and play with multiple people.
My kids love to challenge each other to who can get the highest score.
This is such a fun and affordable game that will you keep you playing over and over again.
As a mom of 2 boys, I know first hand how much kids LOVE to play fight.
I also know that 9 out of 10 times fighting leads to someone getting hurt.
These socker boppers eliminate all of that.
These inflatable boxing pillows are for use both indoors and out. You can blow them up and deflate them after each use for easy storage.
Super fun and affordable for kids of all ages.
This is another toy that brings back so many fond memories for me as a kid.
This toy is absolutely perfect for independent play. The only thing I wish it had was a skip counter like they had back in the day.
Other than that this is a toy that will bring so much enjoyment, keep them active, and is super affordable.
Anyone else's kids love to kick balls in the house even though they aren't supposed to?
Mine do too.
This hover soccer ball is the perfect option for indoor play.
This ball uses a completely rechargeable battery power to slightly hover over the ground so that it glides across the floor with minimal force.
Because of the way it hovers it is completely impossible to be able to kick it in the air. It always stays on the ground.
This is one of those toys you HAVE TO try out!
When my oldest was a few years younger he would go CRAZY for these digging sets.
These kits are crazy cheap and will keep your kiddos busy for quite a while.
They come in so many varieties including, rocks, gems, fossils, treasure, bugs, etc.
Something for everyone!
This is another one of those toys that shocks me how CRAZY cheap it is for how stinkin' cool it is.
This indoor/outdoor flying ball is like having a drone for younger kids.
You have to watch the customer videos on this. It is just way too cool!
My daughter got one of these for her 5th birthday and these things are way fun.
I even found myself enjoying it while I was playing with her.
These scratch papers have a picture underneath and as you scratch away with the special pencils you reveal the picture - perfectly colored and all.
I even noticed they have blank versions of this so that you can scratch away your own design.
Great for rainy days, road trips, doctors office visit, restaurants etc.
These straws might not look like a lot but they can really make some awesome designs.
300 piece set - build rocket ships, forts, airplanes etc. It's amazing the kind of creations that you can create with this set.

Race siblings around the house with this fun and interactive toy.
Keeps kids busy and active when stuck in the house.

We grabbed this for my middle child for his birthday and all 3 kids have been in love with it.

it also comes with a little bag to store it in too if you don't want to keep it on your door at all times.
Axes are foam and very sticky so it has no issues sticking to the dart - without damaging the door, walls, or furniture.
